Do you like/dislike when foums close old threads ?

On someither foum, I wrote a plugin that doesn't close a thread but when viewing the thread, there's a red notice in the quick reply and newreply pages that says "This thread is over X days old, you should really consider creating a new thread" or something to that effect. Seems to work quite well

Nice mod. I wil try searching for it. But, are you sure that it was vBulletin? IF yes, then I think few vBulletin experts can help the admin with it.

I think its a better option for the forums to close the threads which are quite old. Becoz there is no point in replying to a thread which is about an year old and you dont even know whether that member is still active or not! Right...

i think it will really depend on the topic. if the topic will not be any more relevant then it should really be closed.

If they don't want to close an old thread due ti it's content then maybe they can put the old threads into a new category titled old threads. At least that way they may still be useful and available to some.

That isn't a bad idea, but for making a thread more better, a new one is always good. Depends on Admin, what will he do for this one.

Actually old thread wit good information should be closed, but not deleted, so the inforation passes on. Unless the information is outdated, then delete the old one and start a new one with new inforation

I think deleting old threads is better because it keeps the forum clean and with latest threads.

It will keep it clean but we don't want to lose good or helpful information which is already here. There should be a way to catalog it and save it for future use by the members here while still keeping the forum easy to use.
