Tips on getting your website name out on the internet

Does any of you have any good tips on getting your website name out on the internet, like ways on how to get people to know what the website is if some one says something like "have you seen bla bla"

That seems like a big, general question. It sounds like you want people to be familiar with your website.

There are a whole series of things you need to do to Get Noticed. Here is the biggest thing: let the search engines know you are there. Go the the web directory, and make yourself noticed:

Let 100's of search engines know you are there.

Next, folks have got to want to come to your site, to see it, to know it, and to want to talk about it. This covers the area of traffic draw and generation.
There is a lot here in this forum that should help you.

You can also go to my blog, Marginsxs!, and get a free download "Unlimited Traffic Secrets-101 Tips to Explode your Web site Traffic". Click on the picture in the July 3rd entry. You will have to do this sign-up thingie, and it does subscribe you to some kind of newsletter by Gabor Olah. You can always cancel. (This guy is really easy to deal with!) The upside to these set-ups is the security in opt-in lists.

In any case, if you read the blog entry, that will give you some kind of idea of the ways to get noticed. I would really, really be surprized if there was NOT something in this book you didn't find interesting or doable.

If you have a large advertising budget, the best way to get visitors/pagerank is to get targeted traffic/high PR links from traffic companies.

Buying traffic is NOT a great good to get your name on there.

However, email marketting some claim works fairly well along with high linking PR websites... But just the buying traffic part in general is not good.

I already buy traffic just only to make my blog and site have a good rank in alexa. So, i think its good for me. BUt i don't know about others people think..

Buying traffic can work if you get targeted, repeat visitors.

I use this to get my links on others websites:

This works well for me and gets me targeted traffic. Try it out.

You can also get your site noticed by doing the following:
1. Writing articles and submitting them to article directories. In the "About Author" box, you would put your website address along with your name so that when people read your articles, they can also check out your website.
2. Comment on blog posts. This will give more exposure to your website. As spiders crawl the blog site, it will pick up your URL and index it into its database. When people search for terms related to your site, it will appear in the results.
3. Write blog posts about your website. Promoting your site in this way in inexpensive and if your blog gets a good readership following, it means more exposure for you.
4. You can join a Banner Exchange to promote your website.
5. you can also try Traffic Exchanges like Quiethits or Traffic Center.
