Participating in JV giveaways in another way to grow a list. I would advise a bit of caution. Some are just a waste of time, really. Some are just plain great. You donate some free stuff, and in order for folks to download it, they sign-up to your free newsletter, etc. You could just put the download link on your blog, as a reward for visiting. I would not recommend it. With a newsletter sign-up, the opt-in process is a great security feature. Folks can always unsubscribe.

There is one going on right now that maybe readers here might be interested in checking out. What I like about it is that it offers tutorials on how to obtain referrals, ie subscribers, from your website and from your blog. Instructions are geared for the List Owner, Website Owner, and Others.

I couldn't possibly cover tactics here, and this giveaway has quite a few pages devoted to this very thing. This giveaway is the 117 SelfImprovementGifts.com. I know what you (and modric) mean about 'newsletters' that just try and sell stuff, and what also anoys me - the several emails a week ones! I usually unsubscribe if I get more than one or two a week - I just never get around to reading them anyway!

well, u may do a news letter on some topic. Let say u make an announcement on sharing free ebooks in yr blog. but when the visitors come there, they ahve to pay $ 10 per ebook,that what we call spam

I have come across this post and is quite interested to know more about list building. I do hope someone can share a good input on how to come up with a good list and gain more contacts and visitors for my site.
