I've been seeing a lot of advertisements for different courses and stuff about how to make money on the Internet. But I think a lot of it just looks like scams. Anyone here have any pointers on how or where I can get honest reliable information?

There are definitely scams out there but it’s more likely the over selling on the sales pages makes it feel like a rip off. It’s almost if these guys try too hard to convince you to buy. You can find a lot of information on Internet, the point is that you have to do some research. This takes time. A good place to start is Rating hub for Internet marketing info. About a thousand marketers have created a free review site for all things IM to help themselves and other Internet marketers. The good thing is there is no advertising. Not even adsense.
It is better to seek advice before plunging into major purchases.

Realize that you have to be patient, you are not going to make a lot of money overnight.

Getting started is hard and takes time. Slow and steady wins the race.

in searching informations its always better to find in forums if your seeking for an advice, or search wiki sites coz i think they are far reliable than searching in google because results sometimes manipulated.

The more specific you are about what kind of product you want to sell, the easier it will be to find others in honest business, and who can give honest advice.

I studied the net for about one year before I went into business. Yes, I WISH I could make $10,000/day, but that is the exception, not the rule. I think, anyway. There are three basic areas you'll need to address, and all kinds of free information can be found on the net: personal stock in business, what kind of business you would like to doand what you'll need to do so, and where you are going with it down the road.

Investigative tactic #1. Spend no $$$, and take anything "FREE" that has no obligation. If you have to sign up for something, you can always unsign.

Investigative tactic #2. Investigate your person/topic of interest!! I found a person in a business I was interested in, and I looked up advice/opinions and interviews of this person. Because he was open with his bookkeeping and how he made his money, I listened to him. I got honest info, how-to business start up, and for free. And if you do desired to purchase something, look for Money Back Guarantee. Taking a risk is great, but don't be a fool. Also, look for Paypal and SquareTrade and the suck emblems.

Investigative tactic #3. Trust yourself. Once you start to learn internet business, you'll see for yourself how things are put together.

Hope this helps.

Hector,
I was about and doing my business and found an article that may be of interest to you. And the site too.

See www.zongoo.com. You should be able to find a pertinent article there.
Here is what I recommend.

Hmm... what I would do is if I find an affiliate program, for example, search for that website in Google, and if it has A LOT of backlinks, think of it as a credible website. Or you could download the Google toolbar to check it's pagerank. Usually popular websites are reliable.

Another thing you can do is use your common sense, like you are doing (you said most of them look like scams). If the information source says you are going to earn a million dollars in one day, it could be a scam

I really recommend you to join an affiliate program. Do a Google search

Hope I helped.

I would suggest you don't spend money but use your time and find some quality websites and forums specializing in the topics you want to learn about. Go there, read a lot and then you will probably learn more than you would from some alleged course.

I read a quote from a very popular blogger than stated he reads 10X more than he writes and then throws half of what he writes out or saves it for later.

Content is king when it comes to website and popularity. People want to read, give them the information to do so.

Hey Everyone,

I agree and disagree with everyone above.

First, thanks to GettingRicher for mentioning about the backlinks. I do that so frequently I forgot to even really think of it as a tactic.

Joining an affiliate program is a good idea, actually. I think there was a misconception above about affiliates...........you don't pay them, and you should never. You promote their products and share their profits. Usually, there is a member site and promotion tools are available. Some programs offer 50%, others 75%. Some are two-tier, others five tier. A few people do make a killing in this area. My best understanding is that most folks really don't. Don't Give Up! In the perspective of things, this is one way that is part of Multiple Streams of Income. And, if you are starting out, it is a good way to learn about what is out there, and how its done.

Totally, forums, good forums with solid information exchange, and always learning is one of the underlying ways to building your business, and a solid one. I'd recommend checking out Dosh Dosh, a site dedicated to Making Money on Line. There is a lot of practical know-how, and its just plain a great marketing site.

I myself lug around folder of info to read. I'm a sight. I'm just interested, and usually, I'm found something of interest from the night before, Subject B,as I was trying to learn about something else, Subject A. Since I started MarginsXs, I have half a file drawer of info, and I started making file folders with different topics. I have a READ NOW folder (seriously), Website promotion, Forums, and Ebooks in Progress to name a few.

Hope this all helps,
and with warm regards,

Kathy

To add to all of the above, what else you could consider doing is, this...

pick up a niche or a subject and work hard and smart for it, so it can work for you... over time, pick other niches of interest, and duplicate your process for the first one... you multiply your earnings by the number of duplications... but, stay awake and confront to the trends... what works today may not work tomorrow... Life and Business are all about learning and evolving from it... please let us know how it goes, as we're all in the same boat, and are looking to earn BIG...

as for the scams, if it seems too good to be true, 8 out of 10 times it is... so, due diligence is important... read a lot of forums, reputable review websites, etc... over time, you'll get it as a second instinct... you'll be able to spot a scam almost immediately...

here's leaving with you a final thought (for the time being)... although it might not hold good in all cases, it will in most...

Getting Rich is a matter of Simple Economic Principles.

First, you find a market with a HUGE demand, and then you supply the demand in a unique fashion.

Done right, the potential to bring in millions is TREMENDOUS!
