How Do I Start an Internet Business?

I went to visit madkad.co.uk and mkpitsop.co.uk. It is an internet business, alright. It looks successful and established to me, making me think of doing the same thing myself. I mean, MK is only 22 and look what he has done already!

Okay, to cut to the chase, how should I go about starting an online business from scratch? Assuming I have a business in mind, say, selling professional services (e.g. land surveying or building construction), where do I start? Perhaps with a website... a good web hosting service... a merchant account... oh, SEO... everything is really a blur.

Well with me I learn it all my self and that way it doesnt cost also if you need to ever do anything in the future you know what to do, this helps in cutting cost and also it can help in other ways like getting to know people from where you learn what you are learning

Soon I will be making and giving away a E-book on full infomation on what I did and how I did it, also on what you might need. I could sit here now giving you full infomation on things but it does depend on what kind of bussiness you are planing to do.

As you say "land surveying or building construction" now you need to look into this and see if this is something that would get looked into alot by the building trade, I am a former joiner by trade and my dad is a bricklayer lol also my brother is a electrition by trade I could list lots more in my family, but what I am trying to say I know that not many people search the internet for these kind of things, so you have to look at it like this, and ask your self a question, is it going to make you a good amount of cash?

as for SEO and Marketing etc etc these are things that you will have to learn or pay for, I learn it all and then as time goes on I will then pay that way I will learn more and more in my life

First thing you should do is form my point of you to research the market. Reasearch is for knowing your customers,knowing your competion,knowing your competitiors pricing ,knowing their marketing campaign, finding your competitors weekness and your strength.

Precisely the point. There aren't a lot of websites for surveying and engineering services that I thought maybe it will make a good web content and earn cash out of people who avail of the service. But then, you guys are right, it is not exactly marketable.

Let's say I'm doing something that is marketable, say an online store for restaurant and catering services or maybe for health supplements. I have all the information I need to put into a website. What next?

If you are selling real stock then it can be a very good job in making a living as lont as your turn over is good, what you would need to do (this is what I did) is start your website up so that you can start optermizing it and working hard on it.

Alot of people dont relize how much work is involved in a website bussines, even I didnt know this I found out the hard way. People have to know that starting an online bussines isnt like opening a shop on a street, if you was to open a shop then you would probably get 10-20 customers a day but when opening a shop online you will most probrobly get 0 hits in the first or so days.

You have to really read into things and work out about all the marketing you will need to do, I in time have built up contacts that are all in the same line of bussines that can help get my name out (website) to related people and turn these into customers.

I couldn't help but reply to this one.. Before you people do start on the things you have in mind.. keep in mind what Maddy had said.. yeah do that many people search the net for bricks or electrical works? "From what I know, is they dont." You could check the same by researching on google and overture. That would give you a fair idea. And then take a look at the price of keywords.. and the big names that pop up in the listing.

Researching them would give you a very good overview of what you are getting into.
