Personally, I think that logos reflect how professional a website is. If a logo looks hand drawn, I wouldn't trust in the company's going-concern, thus, reducing the probability of my involvement in that site. However, if it looks professional, I will most probably give that site a try (i.e buy goods, getting involved with the community, subscribing newletters, etc).

I do agree that the presence of some companies should be improved and that if they don't look good, you should not trust the company to much!

But a hand drawn logo can be really great!! I have seen around 20 that are really really good!

Most companies online go for simple but recognizable! Look at yahoo, google, hotmail etc!
