Default Wireless Controllers

Right, but that's not the point. I know I'll get a few chuckles for this,
but in all seriousness, this is a very monopolistic thing to do. Plugging a
non-MS plug in the controller slot does NO damage, and shouldn't influence
warranty at all. It's like a car dealer saying "If you use a non-Honda floor
mat, you void all warranty or complimentary service". It's a part of the
actual machine that shouldn't, in an ideal circumstance, affect the
machine's warranted parts at all.

If Microsoft wanted to merely latch ahold of the 1st party accessory market,
why not make that voiding the de facto ruling for ANY accessory, from non-MS
power strip to a non-MS TV. They'd really clean up.

Is there any damage that a 3rd party controller could do to the workings of
a game console (besides hurt sales of 1st party controllers)?
