I won't speak for the original poster, but I personally would answer
"yes".
I have an SPIII -- and *love* it. But I would never go hiking or
walking with it. It's heavy and too bulky for walking, and the
batteries only last two or so hours. In fact, Garmin so much as
acknowledges this -- the SPIII's recently announced successor (due to be
out this month) -- doesn't even have batteries *at all*.
Get yourself a Pocket PC-based GPS system, or a Garmin Ique, or a
Magellan Sporttrak, etc., etc. for your walking GPS needs.
