Default system set up

I am looking for a reasonably priced set up using my existng jvc head
unit. My existing speaker sizes are 6x4. I am planning on using 4"
speakers in there place ( i have made an adaptor to fit 4x6 to 4").
The whole idea of the set up is to make it universal and portable, so
I can take it out without leaving holes in the doors, and stick into
another motor, without making any holes.
The 4" will be components speakers. What I would like to know is what
is the best way of achieving some reasonable bass, not low end drone,
more punchy, as the 4" will be limited in responce. The head unit has
RCA outs.
Was thinking of seperate amp to run the bass, but am not sure as to
whether is should be wired in mono , parallel or series or the
difference in running it 4 or 8 ohm. Would i need a crossover and what
are capacitors used for?
