Default Anyone else hit by Guitar Hero II deadly upgrade ?

Hi,

Anyone else in the UK been hit by problems with Guitar Hero II on xbox
360 ?

yesterday my Son installed and played the game and the console froze
after about 10 minutes (never frozen before in 18 months). he rebooted
and it froze again after 5 minutes. Ejected game and rebooted. Played
CoD 2 and Oblivion. Both froze (Static screen image with white
vertical dashes) after about 5 minutes. The Dashboard even freezes
some times. Sometimes we also get the circle of death. I tried
uninstalling the game via the dashboard (2 things were listed against
it which makes me think we unwittingly got the update ?). I also
removed the cache and game profile. Still the unit is unusable.

Now some would have you believe this is a coincidence, but I'm not
convinced.

The xbox is connected to the internet, and I'm guessing the prefs are
set to auto-update games, hence we fell foul of the whammy bar update
that can kill your xbox 360. Incredible that a game could appear to
corrupt the device so thoroughly , as I assume the dashboard runs from
the BIOS ? Maybe the guitar controller does something bad to the USB
port.

I'll get a refund from where I got the game, but I guess I'll have to
ship the 360 to Microsoft , which will be a new experience as so far,
it's been without problem.

My advice if you have this game is be very careful, especially with
the update.
