Founded in 1998, PayPal, an eBay Company, enables any individual or business with an email address to securely, easily and quickly send and receive payments online. PayPal's service builds on the existing financial infrastructure of bank accounts and credit cards and utilizes the world's most advanced proprietary fraud prevention systems to create a safe, global, real-time payment solution.

PayPal has quickly become a global leader in online payment solutions with 100 million account members worldwide. Available in 55 countries and regions around the world, buyers and sellers on eBay, online retailers, online businesses, as well as traditional offline businesses are transacting with PayPal.

PayPal has received close to 20 awards for technical excellence from the internet industry and the business community at large -most recently the 2003 Webby Award for Best Finance Site and the 2003 Webby People's Voice Award for Best Finance Site.
I consider PayPal to be one of the most secure and reliable paying methods that I use on the internet. I always ask for funds to be transferred to me via PayPal or another secure way like a check; but most use PayPal since it is fast and user-friendly.

how can send people money to me? Do I need to do something
You need a bank account or credit card to get started, without this you can't SEND money but you CAN RECIEVE MONEY.

do I have some kind of number I can give,
You will give them the e-mail address that you signed up with, the one you use to login to your account.

One word of advice; heed it if you like!
Make your password hard and NEVER EVER give it to anyone because you can withdraw funds from a bank account without even getting notice or your bank contacting you!
