Rotten Apples
In order to compete with the ongoing success of the iPod, Microsoft has recently announced its plans to release a newly-enhanced Zune media player. The Zune has never really posed any threat to the iPod revolution, but Microsoft does feel that it could possibly gain shifting customers who are fed up with the ongoing releases of new iPods.
It certainly does seem that Apple is coming out with a more modernized media player every other week. Just what, then, does the Zune have to offer? For one, it comes fully-equipped with a built-in FM tuner, something that the iPod lacks. In addition, users have the capability of transmitting songs to other Zune users via wireless connectivity. The Zune also contains a bright color display that makes its interface very appealing.
Unlike the iPods, the Zune can also sync up wirelessly to your personal computer. A significant upgrade in memory capacity has also been implemented, as the new Zune is expected to contain 80 gigabytes of storage. The older, flash memory models were sold containing either 4 or 8 total gigabytes. Lastly, the 3.2-inch LCD screen and wide selection of colors available (pink, green, black, and red) should undoubtedly give Apple something to worry about.
